Descendants of Hendrik Braschler
Although our Braschlers have always been a part of Dutch communities, the earliest Braschler I have been able to identify thus far in our branch of the family is Hendrik Braschler who married and lived in Breukelen, Utrecht, Netherlands, (the town from which Brooklyn, NY gets it name) but who was born in Naenikon, Uster, Zurich, Switzerland
Generation No. 1 & 2
HENDRIK1 BRASCHLER was born Abt. 1767 in Naenikon (Nenneke), Switzerland, and died June 09, 1849 in Breukelen, Utrecht, Netherlands. He married ANTJE TIMMER April 27, 1793 in Breukelen. She was the daughter of KLAAS TIMMER and SUZANNA ACABOA. Antje was born Abt. 1772 in Breukelen, and died there on February 26, 1852. Hendrik was working as a tailor in Breukelen in 1829, but what brought him to the Netherlands in the first place is unknown. Perhaps he was a soldier.
Children of HENDRIK BRASCHLER and ANTJE TIMMER are:
i. HENDRIKA SUSANNA2 BRASCHLER, born February 07, 1794 in Breukelen, UT, Netherlands. She married DIRK DE JONG March 24, 1815 in Breukelen-Nijenrode, son of JAN DE JONG and NEELTJE VERWEY. He was born Abt. 1791.ii. NICHOLAS BRASCHLER, b. September 19, 1799.
iii. JOHANNES BRASCHLER, born August 04, 1803 in Breukelen, Utrecht, Netherlands, and died in Illinois sometime before 1890.
iv. MARTINUS JACOBUS BRASCHLER, b. December 18, 1806.
Note: there is another line of Braschlers, primarily in Missouri, who are descendants of Ana Maria amd Jacob Braschler of Wilsberg, Switzerland through their immigrant children Heinrich, Konrad, Jacob, and Maria Braschler. It is yet to be determined whether or not our two family lines are connected.
